Hey guys,
I'm new to the whole fitness routine and I'm just looking for some recommendations on other activities or pastimes that could contribute positively towards my health and fitness goals. I'm not really into going to the gym, but I still want to be active and healthy.
I used to play basketball in high school and I really enjoyed it, so I was thinking about joining a local rec league. I've also heard that hiking and rock climbing can be really fun and great workouts. Are there any other activities that you guys swear by?
I'm looking to improve my overall health, so any suggestions are welcome - whether it's cardio, strength training, or flexibility/mobility work.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Greetings all,
I would like to recommend trail running. As a runner, I have found that trail running provides a more challenging workout compared to road running. The uneven terrain and the inclination provides more resistance, which leads to better muscle build-up and improved cardiovascular health. Furthermore, the stress-free environment that trail running provides has a calming effect that can uplift your mood and clear your mind.
Another activity I'd like to suggest is paddleboarding. Not only is it a fun water sport that allows you to enjoy nature, but it's also a great full-body exercise that helps to build core strength, balance, and upper body muscles. You can make it a group activity by inviting friends or attend classes to meet other paddle boarders while you burn calories.
If you're looking for something indoors, try dance-based workouts like Zumba or Bollywood dancing. These fast-paced cardio exercises incorporate fun dance moves that are designed to burn calories and exercise your body to stay healthy. Dance workouts don’t seem like a workout, and you'll get to let loose and have fun.
In conclusion, there are many activities or pastimes outside of the gym and you don't have to restrict yourself to a particular activity. Instead, find something that you enjoy, stay consistent, and challenge yourself to achieve your desired health and fitness goals.
