Hi everyone,
I'm a beginner who just started working out at home since the gyms are closed. I've been following some YouTube videos to guide me through my exercises, but I'm not sure if I'm doing them correctly. I don't want to risk getting injured or not seeing any progress because of my bad form.
Can anyone give me some tips on how to know if I'm doing an exercise correctly, and how to fix my form if I'm not? Are there any cues or signs to look out for? Or should I ask someone to watch me while I'm exercising?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi there,
I totally understand your concern about proper form while performing exercises, particularly when you are working out alone or at home. From my personal experience, one of the best things that has tremendously helped me maintain a proper form is to listen to my body.
Listening to your body means, being mindful of how your body feels while performing an exercise. For instance, if you find it challenging to maintain a proper form while performing push-ups, you may want to bring your knees down to the floor to lessen the load on your upper body. Or you may wish to reduce the number of reps until you feel you have the strength to execute each rep effectively.
Another helpful tip is to try to perform the exercise in front of a mirror. This allows you to observe your form closely, and you could take a closer look at the targeted areas you're meant to be working on. To add visual cues, you can also use pieces of clothing such as belts or t-shirts to align your body correctly.
Lastly, don't be too hard on yourself when you find it challenging to maintain proper form initially. Perfection is not the goal here. Instead, focusing on your progress no matter how little is essential.
In conclusion, be mindful of your body, try to perform exercises in front of a mirror, use visual cues, and do not be too hard on yourself. These tips are essential to maintaining proper form while doing your exercises.
