I am a 30-year-old who works a desk job and leads a sedentary lifestyle. I have realized that I need to start exercising to improve my health and fitness levels. However, I am not sure where to start and how to ensure that I do not injure myself while starting my exercise regimen.
Can anyone share some tips on how to safely start exercising for someone who comes from a sedentary background? I do not want to be discouraged by any injuries or setbacks, so any advice on how to gradually increase the intensity of my workouts would be greatly appreciated. Additionally, any suggestions on the type of exercises I should start with and how frequently I should do them would be helpful too.

I also come from a sedentary background, and one of the biggest barriers to starting an exercise routine for me was finding the right motivation. I found that setting specific, measurable, and achievable goals helped me stay focused and motivated.
I started by setting goals related to things I wanted to accomplish, like running a 5K, being able to do ten push-ups in a row, or fitting into a favorite outfit that didn't fit anymore. These specific goals made it easier to track my progress, celebrate my accomplishments, and stay motivated.
I also found that it was helpful to switch up my routine or try new things regularly. This helped me avoid getting bored with my workouts while challenging my body in new ways.
Another tip I have is to start tracking your diet and sleep. This may seem unrelated, but it plays a significant role in your overall health and how much progress you can make towards your fitness goals. By tracking what you eat and getting adequate sleep, you can ensure you have the energy and nutrients you need to maximize your workouts.
Lastly, don't be too hard on yourself. Starting a new routine can be challenging, but it's important to remember that every little bit counts. Celebrate your small wins, keep pushing yourself to improve, and don't give up. The benefits of regular exercise extend beyond just physical fitness, including improved mental health and overall quality of life.
