I've recently started going to the gym regularly and I've been doing both cardio and weightlifting workouts. However, I'm a bit confused about the order in which I should be doing them. Should I do cardio before weightlifting or after? And is it okay to combine the two types of exercises in one session?
Just to give you some context, I'm looking to lose some weight and improve my overall fitness. I usually spend around an hour in the gym and my routine includes about 30-40 minutes of cardio and 20-30 minutes of weightlifting. I've heard different opinions on the best way to structure these sessions and I'm not sure what to do.
Any tips or advice on how to combine cardio and weightlifting workouts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

When it comes to my personal experience with cardio and weightlifting workouts, I've had success with doing cardio after weightlifting. Starting off with weights helps me get my heart rate up, and focusing on strength-building exercises first helps me maintain proper form and technique. After completing my weightlifting routine, I move onto cardio to keep my heart rate elevated.
When I first started incorporating cardio and weights into my workout routine, I explored different combinations of the two. Ultimately, having a separate day for cardio and strength training worked best for me because it allowed me to focus on each activity for a longer period of time. I generally do my weightlifting on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and then do cardio on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
That being said, there are times when I combine cardio and strength training in the same session. For example, I may end a weightlifting session with a quick burst of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) or do some light cardio in between sets.
Overall, there is no wrong or right way to incorporate cardio and weightlifting into your routine. It's important to find a balance that works for you and commit to it. Don't be afraid to experiment with different combinations until you find the one that leaves you feeling both challenged and energized!
