Hi everyone! I have recently started my weight loss journey and as a beginner, I am confused about whether I should focus more on cardio or strength training to lose weight. I am a 28-year-old male with a height of 5’10’’ and weight of 200lbs. My goal is to lose around 20-25lbs within the next 3-4 months. Currently, I am leading a sedentary lifestyle and my job involves sitting in front of the computer for 8-10 hours a day. I have also made some changes to my diet and started consuming more vegetables, fruits, and lean protein while avoiding processed foods and sugary drinks. However, I am not sure about which type of exercise will help me achieve my weight loss goal more efficiently. I have read conflicting opinions on the internet, some suggesting that cardio is the best way to lose weight while others recommend strength training.
I would appreciate if anyone could share their personal experience and suggest which type of exercise will work better for me. Also, any tips or suggestions that can help me stay motivated and stick to my fitness routine will be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi there! As someone who has struggled with weight loss in the past, incorporating a healthy balance of both cardio and strength training was the key to my success. In my experience, focusing on one type of exercise alone did not provide the results I was hoping for.
Cardio exercises such as running, cycling or dancing help increase your heart rate and promote weight loss. On the other hand, strength training can help build lean muscle mass and increase your metabolism, which can lead to burning more calories throughout the day.
During my weight loss journey, I would dedicate 2-3 days per week to strength training and 2-3 days per week to cardio. I would also focus on a variety of exercises and switch up my routines to challenge my body and avoid boredom.
To stay motivated, I set small and achievable goals for myself and focused on the progress I was making, rather than perfection. I also made sure to track my food intake and maintain a healthy diet, as losing weight is mostly diet-focused. Having an accountability partner or joining a fitness community can also be hugely beneficial for staying motivated and on track.
Remember, the best approach to weight loss is finding a routine that works for you and is sustainable in the long run. Don't be afraid to try new forms of exercise and find enjoyment in the process. Good luck on your journey!
