Q:

What are some non-scale victories to track besides my weight and measurements?

Hi everyone,

I've been on a weight loss journey for a few months now and have been tracking my weight and measurements regularly. Although I am happy with my progress so far, I have realized that relying solely on the number on the scale or the tape measure can be demotivating at times. Therefore, I am looking for some other non-scale victories that I can track to keep myself motivated and excited about my journey.

Can anyone suggest some non-scale victories that I can track besides my weight and measurements? Perhaps some small accomplishments that I can celebrate along the way? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Hi there,

Congratulations on your weight loss journey! I understand the importance of finding non-scale victories to keep yourself motivated, and one thing that helped me was tracking my mental and emotional progress.

For instance, I celebrated when I was able to say "no" to food that I knew wasn't good for me, without feeling guilty or like I was missing out. This was a big step for me because in the past, food had been a source of comfort for me, and I struggled with emotional eating.

Another non-scale victory that I tracked was the improvement in my anxiety levels. As I lost weight and made lifestyle changes, I found that my overall anxiety levels decreased, and I felt more at ease in situations that used to make me very anxious.

Another way I tracked non-scale victories was through personal records. For example, I celebrated when I was able to complete a certain workout or lift a certain amount of weight that I wasn't able to before. This showed me that my hard work was paying off and that I was making progress even if the scale wasn't moving as quickly as I hoped.

I hope these suggestions help and I wish you all the best on your journey towards better health!

Hi!

Great work on your weight loss journey so far! I completely understand the frustration of relying solely on the scale and measurements to track progress. I struggled with this myself and discovered a few non-scale victories that kept me motivated.

One NSV that I celebrated was the increase in my strength and endurance during exercise. As I incorporated strength training and cardio into my routine, I noticed that I was able to do more reps, lift heavier weights, and complete tougher workouts without feeling as fatigued.

Another NSV for me was the improvement in my sleep. As I lost weight and improved my overall health, I found that I fell asleep easier and stayed asleep longer. This was a great feeling because it meant that my hard work was improving many areas of my life.

Finally, an NSV that motivated me was the improvement in my energy levels. As I lost weight and improved my overall health, I found that I had more energy throughout the day. This not only helped me to be more productive but also allowed me to incorporate more physical activity into my days.

I hope these examples help you find non-scale victories that will keep you motivated on your journey. Good luck!

Hi there,

I completely understand the need to find non-scale victories to stay motivated on your weight loss journey. Personally, I found that tracking my progress through fitness milestones helped me stay motivated.

One fitness milestone that I celebrated was being able to do a full push-up without modifications. When I started my weight loss journey, I wasn't able to do even one full pushup. But as I lost weight and strengthened my upper body, I slowly progressed from doing push-ups with modifications, to half push-ups, and eventually to full push-ups.

Another fitness milestone that helped me stay motivated was being able to complete a hike that I had previously struggled with. The hike was a challenge the first time I attempted it, but as I continued to improve my fitness level, I was eventually able to complete it without any difficulty.

Finally, one non-scale victory that I found helpful was feeling more confident in public. As I lost weight and improved my health, I found that I was more comfortable in my own skin and felt more confident when interacting with others.

I hope these suggestions help you find non-scale victories to stay motivated on your journey!

Hey all,

As someone who has also undergone weight loss, I have found that non-scale victories are key to staying motivated. One non-scale victory that I celebrated was overcoming my negative self-talk. I found that as I lost weight, I became more confident in my abilities and stopped beating myself up over small mistakes or setbacks.

Another thing that I tracked was my sleep quality. Before weight loss, I often had trouble getting a good night's sleep, but as I began to take better care of my health, I found that I slept better and woke up feeling more rested.

Finally, I found that tracking my relationship with food was important for me. As I began to lose weight, I realized that food was no longer something to just consume, but something that could be enjoyed and celebrated. I started cooking more and trying new recipes, which helped me recognize the importance of fueling my body with nutritious foods and enjoying the process of preparing and eating them.

I hope that sharing these non-scale victories has been helpful to you on your weight loss journey. Remember, every small accomplishment matters and is a step closer to your end goal!

Hello everyone,

I completely understand the need to find non-scale victories and celebrate progress along the way. Personally, I found that tracking my energy levels helped me stay motivated during my weight loss journey.

One non-scale victory that I celebrated was having enough energy to do activities that I had previously avoided due to fatigue or discomfort. For example, I was finally able to join in team sports with my friends without feeling out of breath or unable to keep up.

Another non-scale victory that I tracked was my overall sense of well-being. I found that, as I lost weight and improved my eating habits, I felt better both physically and mentally. This included having more energy, being less irritable, and feeling less stressed overall.

Finally, I celebrated each time I was able to break a previous personal record, whether that was running a certain distance, lifting a certain weight or completing a challenging exercise routine. It felt amazing to see how far I had come and reminded me of the progress I had made, rather than just focusing on the number on the scale.

I hope these non-scale victories ideas help you to stay motivated and reach your goals!

Hi!

Congratulations on your weight loss journey so far! I completely understand where you're coming from with wanting to find non-scale victories to keep yourself motivated. I had the same experience during my own weight loss journey.

One non-scale victory that I celebrated was being able to run for longer periods of time without getting winded. I used to struggle just running a mile, but as I lost weight and improved my fitness level, I found that I could run for longer distances without feeling completely exhausted.

Another non-scale victory for me was being able to fit into clothes that I haven't worn in years. This was a great feeling because it made me realize that my hard work was paying off and I was making progress.

Finally, another non-scale victory was the improvement in my mental health. As I lost weight and exercised more, I found that my mood improved, and I felt more confident and happy overall.

I hope these examples help, and I wish you the best of luck on your journey!
